Dear Commercialism

I've been guilty of setting my sights on the best that's out there instead of honing in on my skills with the equipment that I have. It took me a while and unfortunately a lot of money to realize that the amount of equipment that I owned didn't necessarily breed killer images. Does it help? Sure. But I'm convinced now that often times the tools you have at your fingertips might be enough and might even be amazing.

Oh how this describes me.  I don't need a new camera; I need to use the one I've got.  I don't need new clothes, new gadgets, new anything; I need to appreciate and utilize what I have.

Dear Commercialism,

I detest you.  I detest how I get caught up in your web and think that the newest and the shiniest is the best and only thing for me.  I despise how you complicate my life, clutter my desk and my closet, and make me forget about the important things in life.  This quest for stuff, this need for things - it drives me up the wall.  But so often, I am the most guilty of all.  I banish you from my life.  I may have to banish you again tonight and again tomorrow but I commit to ridding my life of your filth from here on out.

Your OLD friend,
Christy

Answers to your Questions

Did you ask me a question earlier but then didn't know where to find the answers?  Look no further: CLICK HERE or type http://www.formspring.me/christyjoy into your address bar.

Sorry it took me a while to reply, I wasn't aware anyone had asked me anything until all of the sudden, BAM, I received an e-mail saying there were LOTS of questions!

I liked answering them so if anyone has any more questions, feel free to ask! :)

Supper

Allana and I were tired of the usual sandwiches from the cafe.  So we made something a bit more creative: Basil & Sundried Tomato Linguini with flaxseed garlic bread.  Yum!

A Sabbath Afternoon

Last Sabbath, Allana and I spent a relaxing cold Sabbath afternoon reading, being, and playing our cellos.  One thing led to another and soon we set up a make-shift recording studio at my desk.  Here are the results :)
p.s. Sorry for the bad audio quality.  Something happened during the uploading process.

Come, My Way
Author: George Herbert
Composer: Ralph Vaughan Williams

Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life
such a way as gives us breath,
such a truth as ends all strife,
such a life as killeth death.

Come, my Light, my Feast, my Strength:
such a light as shows a feast,
such a feast as mends in length,
such a strength as makes his guest.

Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart:
such a joy as none can move,
such a love as none can part,
such a heart as joys in love.

One Month

It's been one month since I was in my accident.  My official diagnosis was a "left zygomatic fracture and a left orbital floor fracture".  I decided it was time for an update seeing as the last blog I posted with pictures of myself was somewhat disturbing.  I took a video while walking to orchestra but then I realized that I was holding the camera in my right hand so its kinda hard to see my left cheek clearly. So I asked the nice cafeteria lady take a picture of Joel and I after orchestra.

Thank you for your prayers, phone calls, and e-mails!  I've really appreciated them all.

"When in faith we take hold of His strength, He will change, wonderfully change, the most hopeless, discouraging outlook.  He will do this for the glory of His name."
