" I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that, I think this, I think that... "

I have heard these three words every day since I began to walk the halls of higher education.

Every time I hear or say it, my brain shouts out to me:

WHAT DOES GOD SAY?!

Let us not forget to consult the BIBLE when deciding our opinions

Christy, you just hit on a topic I've been working on for the the opinion page and my blog.

I don't have time to go into detail but I'll leave you and all your readers with this quote from Luke 10:25ff.

"And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live."

What a model! Jesus didn't outright TELL the lawyer WHAT HE THOUGHT (which as Lord, Creator, and Savior he has every right to do). Instead, Jesus, ALWAYS SERVING AS OUR EXAMPLE, directed the lawyer back to scripture for the answer to the question before giving direction.

"I think, I think, I think"...It's lame, it's lame, it's lame...

How readest thou...

Good point. However, the reason that I use those words so often is because, though I try to think as Christ would/does, I say "I think" in order to say that I don't know this for a fact, but this is what it seems God has revealed to me. I'm often doubtful of myself, and I don't want to offend people, so those always seem like the best words for stepping in the right direction without stepping on people's toes. ;)
